Welcome to the official website of the Duffy Daugherty Memorial Award.
We are pleased to announce that the winner of the 2013 Duffy Daugherty Memorial Award is former commissioner of the Southeastern Conference and “Father of the BCS” Roy Kramer. Kramer was the head football coach at Central Michigan University from 1967 through 1977, the athletic director at Vanderbilt University from 1978 to 1990, and then took the helm as commissioner of the SEC from 1990 to 2002. During his tenure, the SEC rapidly expanded its influence and prestige, and Kramer spearheaded the effort to create the revolutionary but controversial Bowl Championship Series. For his efforts, the SEC awards the male and female athlete of the year awards in his name. Kramer is a giant in college athletics, and we are thrilled to award him the 2013 Duffy Daugherty Memorial Award.
We are also pleased to announce that this year’s high school award winner is Muskegan Oakridge High School coach Jack Schugars.
Since 1992, the Duffy Daugherty Memorial Award has recognized outstanding contributions to amateur football. Roy Kramer and Jack Schugars will join a legendary list of past recipients that includes Bobby Bowden, Eddie Robinson, Bo Schembechler, Keith Jackson, Bud Wilkinson, and Ara Parseghian, among others.
The recipients will be honored at an award dinner on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at the Eagle Eye Country Club in Bath, Michigan. Please click on the “Ticket Information” tab for more information. We look forward to seeing you!
